Experts: Russians’ expenses on electronics jump 31% in Jan–Mar

MOSCOW, Apr 5 (PRIME) -- The average check of a purchase in the electronics and gadgets category per one visit of a store increased in Russia by 31% on the year to 8,710 rubles in January–March, analysts of the country’s largest fiscal data operator Platform OFD told PRIME on Monday.

“Sales in money terms rose 16%, but fell 5% in units,” the analysts said.

They said a significant rise in expenses of the citizens on electronics and gadgets started a year ago, just ahead of the COVID-19 restrictions.

“Now, sales are mainly influenced by changes on the global technological market because of the pandemic, including the factor of the cost price of imported goods and the lack of certain components in manufacture of high-tech devices,” the analysts said.
